Hi there! If you’ve popped over to our Do It Yourself page, then I know we have something besides using toxin-free products in common. I enjoy visiting craft stores and browsing Pinterest for new ideas. So often, I see something and think, “I know I can make that!”
However, if the price is right, I’ll just buy it ’cause all too often I never actually do get around to making it. This is why I do my best to keep my costs affordable for you all. I’d rather sell a lot at a lower cost to more folks who may not normally be able to afford such products than to sell at a higher price to fewer folks who can afford it.
But I know, I still have to contend with us DIY-ers. And that’s Okay! Which is why I created this page. Now, I’m not going to give away the secrets to my top sellers, sorry to get your hopes up. But, I will pass on some recipes I’ve tested over the years that I think you will enjoy!
Happy making!!
Oil Infusing:
Oil in fusing is a great way to incorporate different items into your beauty products without the high cost associated with essential oils. For the basic method, take your item (listed below) and place it in a 16 ounce jar. Cover the item with oil (listed below) and tightly cover with lid. For a fast infusion, place a hand towel in a crock pot and fill 1/3 with water. Place jar in crock pot, wrapping the towel around it. Infuse on low for 3-8 hours (depending on item). For the “patient,” and my preferred, method, simply place tightly covered jar in dry dark place (like in the cupboard under the sink) for between 4 days and 6 weeks (depending on the item).
Items:
- Coffee grounds: infuse 4-5 days
- Herbs- use slightly dried leaves, chopped. Infuse 2-4 weeks
- Flower petals (rose petals): use slightly dry, chopped petals: infuse 2-4 weeks
- Flower buds (lavender, chamomile): infuse 2-4 weeks
Oils: grapeseed, olive, argan, sunflower, and avocado. You can also use 76 degree Coconut oil- but only in the hot summer months when it is in it’s melted state.
